We hope that everyone had a wonderful time off during the holiday season, and that the year is off to a great start.
We’ve been enjoying our time off getting some well needed rest while also catching up with some family and friends. We took a quick trip to the Azores, Portugal back in November and had fun exploring the landscape, the culture, and best of all — the wine, cheese and espresso. Though my favourite part was visiting the pineapple and tea plantation, and admiring all the dairy cows!
We’ve also reflected a lot over the past year and identified what went well with the farm business and what we could do better next year. We were very happy with how the first year went, and are looking forward to year 2!
As of now, I’ve completed the crop planning and our infrastructure related projects for the spring have been mapped out.
Here are 3 things you can expect from us this year:
Enhanced online shopping platform
It will be easier to place orders online to pick up at the farm or farmers market, or have them delivered. Farm shares/CSA members will also be able to easily customize their orders and choose when they want their veggies! There will be more flexibility!
Unique, fun varieties including heirloom cultivars
If you thought our purple peppers were cool, there are other cooler veggies coming your way this year!
More customer favourites
We took note of the top veggies last year and made sure we are growing enough of them this year so that you’ll be able to enjoy them all season long!
In order to maintain the quality of our service, we are narrowing down our delivery areas to Georgetown and Mississauga West only (Erin Mills, Streetsville, Churchill Meadows and Meadowvale). However, there will now be pick up available at the farm and farmers market — we are hoping to be back at the Georgetown farmers market every Saturday this year.
On the operations side, we will be getting an enclosed shed for washing and order procurement, and will retrofitting part of it to a cold storage. I’m very excited about this new addition as it will make it easier and more efficient for us.
Stay tuned for our farm share subscription opening, around end of February to early March!
