The Farmers
Jien
Jien is the lead farmer and is responsible for planning, growing, marketing, business administration, and execution of farm tasks. Jien is passionate about contributing to her local food system, and providing her local community with fresh, ecologically grown food that is also culturally relevant.
Growing up in the Philippines and coming to Canada at a young age, she looks forward to seeing more cultural crops at farmers markets to represent our diverse communities.

Prior to becoming a farmer, Jien was in the financial industry for 10 years as a senior analyst in a risk management role. In 2022, she then worked in a farm for a year to learn the trade, while also slowly self-educating herself.
​
Her goal for 2024 is to become a more confident food grower, expanding her knowledge while forming meaningful connections with her local community.
​
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, climbing, and skiing with her husband Steve, as well as relaxing on the couch and watching TV with their two cats.
Steve
Steve is responsible for the infrastructure set up and equipment maintenance on the farm. For 2023, he is spearheading the building of the greenhouse, low tunnel, mobile cooler, wash station, and much more.

On weekdays, Steve puts on his aerospace engineering hat, and on evenings and weekends, loves to help out in the farm whenever he can.
​
In his spare time, Steve enjoys playing board games, hiking, climbing, and is an avid skiier in the winter.
